Battery4Life is a newly founded research company at Graz University of Technology and, as a COMET Center,
cooperates with industry and academia in the field of battery technology innovation. The goal is to make batteries
more efficient and sustainable. Safe operation is a clear focus to achieve the longest possible service life, both in
the vehicle and through subsequent use.
We are searching for a visionary, technically and scientifically skilled Area Manager to lead one of our Battery4Life
Research Areas. This key position involves cutting-edge research in predicting and optimizing the behavior of
energy storage systems. As an Area Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic development of the area,
managing a high-performing team, and fostering innovation through advanced simulation and characterization methods.
Job Profile
- Strategic Leadership: Define the vision, set clear objectives, and drive the strategic and thematic expansion of the Area.
- Team Management: Lead, motivate, and organize a dedicated team, taking full responsibility for decision-making and operational excellence.
- Project & Financial Management: Oversee project coordination, management, and controlling, including financial planning and resource allocation.
- Acquisition & Networking: Drive project acquisition within both industry and public funding sectors, while actively expanding our partner network and establishing new collaborations.
- Technical Excellence: Lead the development of advanced simulation models and innovative battery characterization methods.
Your Profile
- Education & Experience: A strong background in scientific research with a proven reputation and relevant experience in energy storage (MSc in technical science or higher).
- Battery Technology: Deep expertise in battery technologies, from cell components to full battery systems, including behavior under both normal and abuse conditions.
- Simulation Expertise: Extensive experience in virtual multi-physics simulation (e.g., FEM, CFD).
- Modeling & AI: Proficiency in developing advanced simulation models; knowledge of Reduced Order Modeling and AI methods is a distinct advantage.
- Business Acumen: Solid knowledge of financial management, controlling, and professional project management.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on teamwork and cooperation.
- A proactive approach to independent problem-solving.
- Intercultural competence, enabling effective collaboration in diverse environments.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to set and achieve long-term goals.
- Proven ability to motivate teams and take ownership of critical decisions.
