Senior Researcher & Project Lead (m/f/x)

Lead high-level research in battery modelling, degradation and diagnostics and shape the strategic development of this research area.

Battery4Life is a newly founded research company at Graz University of Technology and, as a COMET Center, cooperates with industry and academia in the field of battery technology innovation. The goal is to make batteries more efficient and sustainable. Safe operation is a clear focus to achieve the longest possible service life, both in the vehicle and through subsequent use.

We are looking for a motivated Senior Researcher & Project Lead with a strong focus on battery modelling, degradation and diagnostics to play a key role in advancing cutting-edge battery research and in shaping the strategic development of this research area.

💶 5,180 € gross / month (14x)
➕ Possible add-on for leadership functions

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and lead high-level scientific research in battery modelling, degradation and diagnostics, including dissemination through high-impact publications and conferences.
  • Coordinate and manage national and international research projects (planning, execution, reporting) including financial management (budgeting and controlling).
  • Contribute to acquisition of public and industrial research funding, including proposal development.
  • Develop strategic collaborations and partner networks with academia, industry and funding organizations.
  • Provide scientific, organizational and strategic leadership by mentoring researchers and students and contributing to long-term development of the research area.

Your Profile

Technical & Professional Competencies (Hard Skills)
  • Excellent scientific background with a PhD in a relevant field (e.g., electrochemistry, electrical engineering, materials science, physics, data science, or related disciplines).
  • Proven expertise in battery modelling, degradation analysis and diagnostics.
  • Solid experience in scientific research, project coordination and research management.
  • Sound knowledge of financial management, budgeting and project controlling.
  • Demonstrated experience in acquiring research projects from industry and public funding programs.
Personal & Social Competencies (Soft Skills)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
  • High degree of independence and structured problem-solving ability.
  • Intercultural competence and willingness to actively contribute on-site.
Leadership Skills

  • Experience in team leadership, staff motivation and organizational development.
